The Iraqi envoy to the Arab League, Raad al-Alousi, said the Iraqi government will set up a protected zone for diplomats to live and work in safety.
He said after a meeting with Arab officials that Arab states had not followed up on a summit resolution to restore relations and help Iraq.
Since the summit in March, insurgents in Iraq have kidnapped and killed diplomats from Egypt and Algeria. Egypt has reduced its mission in Baghdad to a skeleton staff.
Al-Alousi said that creating the safe zone for diplomats will remove any excuses based on security grounds.
