Kabul Suicide Car Bomb Kills At Least One

16 December 2005 -- A car bomb exploded in the Afghan capital, Kabul, today, killing the driver.

Kabul's deputy police chief, General Shafiq Fazli, said two civilians were also wounded in the attack.

Fazly believes the bomber “was aiming to blow up a convoy of international troops.”

There were no casualties among the forces.

The attack occurred near a building in western Kabul where Afghanistan's first elected parliament since the 1970s is due to hold its first session on 19 December.

A NATO peacekeeping vehicle was damaged in the attack, but there are no reports of casualties among the soldiers.
