EU And Iranian Officials To Meet On Iran's Nuke Program

Iranian President Ahmadinejad (file photo) (epa) 21 December 2005 -- Representatives from the EU and Iran meet today in Vienna to resume talks on Iran's controversial nuclear program.

Britain, Germany, and France are leading EU efforts to convince Iran to end all uranium-enrichment programs.

The EU says it is committed to ending the standoff diplomatically but the international community is losing patience with Iran, especially after a recent series of anti-Israeli remarks by President Mahmud Ahmadinejad.

At its last meeting in November, the International Atomic Energy Agency put off a debate on referring Iran to the Security Council, which could impose sanctions on Tehran.

Iran rejects American charges it is using its nuclear program to develop nuclear weapons.
