Afghan Kidnappers Of Italian Aid Worker Sentenced To Death


Italin aid worker Clementina Cantoni (file photo) (AFP) Kabul, 22 December 2005  (RFE/RL) -- An Afghan court today sentenced two men to death for kidnapping and murder.


In a trial that lasted one day, The two were found guilty of abducting and killing an Afghan businessman, Hafizullah Zadran.


They were also found guilty of kidnapping the Italian aid worker Clementina Cantoni for three weeks this year.


A third man received 20 years in prison.


The convicted men are expected to appeal.
