Poland's President Approves Keeping Troops in Iraq

Polish President Kaczynski (AFP) 29 December 2005 -- Poland's President Lech Kaczynski today formally approved the extension of Poland's military mission in Iraq for another year.

The Polish government had decided last week to keep troops in Iraq until the end of 2006, though their numbers will be reduced.

The move reversed a decision by the previous government, under which Polish troops would have returned within the next few weeks.
