Roadside Bomb Hits Convoy In South Afghanistan


(RFE/RL) Kandahar 23 January 2006 -- A roadside bomb struck a convoy of U.S. and Afghan military vehicles in southern Afghanistan today but caused no casualties, according to RFE/RL's Afghan Service.

Abdul Hakim Hunger, deputy police chief of Kandahar, said the explosion damaged an Afghan vehicle without causing injuries. He said the convoy comprised six vehicles, four U.S. and two Afghan.

The attack occurred near a compound for U.S. Special Forces troops, which patrol the area for militants.
