Hague Prosecutor Wants 'Concrete Results' From Serbia

Carla Del Ponte (file photo) (AFP) 6 February 2006 -- UN war crimes tribunal chief prosecutor Carla Del Ponte said she needs to see "concrete results" in Serbia's cooperation with the court, and the arrest of fugitives still at large.

She was speaking in Belgrade today after meeting the defense minister of Serbia and Montenegro, Zoran Stankovic.

Del Ponte said she received assurances from authorities that cooperation will be implemented, but she said that "implementation is not enough if concrete results do not come." She said acheiving arrests must be a priority.

Six war crimes fugitives wanted by The Hague tribunal remain at large, including the most wanted among them: Bosnian Serb wartime military leader Ratko Mladic and political leader Radovan Karadzic.
