Iran Agrees To Talk With U.S. Over Iraq

Ali Larijani, chairman of Iran's National Security Council (file photo) (AFP) March 16, 2006 – The head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council today said that Iran is willing to take up longstanding calls from Iraq and United States and open up a dialogue.

Ali Larijani said he expects talks to start "soon."

Washington has repeatedly accused Tehran of interfering in Iraq's internal affairs, including sending weapons and manpower to aid the insurgency in the country.

There was no immediate response from the United States.
