Ten Killed In U.S. Helicopter Crash In Afghanistan

Chinook helicopter CH-47 (file photo) (AFP) May 6, 2006 -- The U.S. military says all 10 servicemen on board a U.S. military helicopter were killed when the aircraft went down in Afghanistan's Kunar Province.

The military did not reveal the nationalities of the servicemen.

The CH-47 Chinook went down while taking part in combat operations near Asadabad, in eastern Afghanistan, late on May 5. The U.S. military said the crash was not a result of enemy fire.

Asadabad is surrounded by mountains, and a large U.S. military base there houses hundreds of Marines and special forces troops.
