Afghan Battle Leaves 11 Dead

(RFE/RL) May 26, 2006 -- The police chief for Afghanistan's Ghazni Province says 10 suspected Taliban militants were killed today after they tried to ambush a police patrol.

Abdul Rahman Sarjang says one police officer also was killed during the hour-long battle.

Afghanistan has over the past 10 days seen some of its worst fighting since the demise of the Taliban regime.
