A court in Tajikistan's northern Soghd region ruled that businessman Abdujalol Qodirov, 55, had been spying for his native Uzbekistan while living in Tajikistan.

Regional court Judge Khotam Nazarov told Tajikistan's Asia- Plus news agency that Qodirov is the third Uzbek citizen to be convicted of spying in the last 10 days.

On June 2, the Soghd regional court sentenced Ibragim Yuldashev to 13 years in prison. The identity of the third Uzbek convicted on spying charges was not immediately available.
