Chavez Brings Anti-Imperialism Message To Iran

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in Russia, during the second leg of his tour of the region (epa) July 29, 2006 -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said at the start of a two-day visit to Tehran that Venezuela will stand behind Iran in "every time and occasion and under every circumstance."

Like Venezuela, Iran is under persistent pressure from the United States, with Iran now facing a Security Council resolution ordering it to freeze its controversial nuclear program.

Officials said Chavez's talks will focus on oil, gas, investment, banking, science and technology, with a petrochemical deal due to be signed tomorrow.
