Baghdad Bombings Kill At Least 19


The Shurja market in Baghdad was the site of another attack on July 20 (epa) August 8, 2006 -- Iraqi police say three separate roadside-bomb attacks killed at least nine people in Baghdad today.


August 8, 2006 -- Iraqi police say a series of bombings in central Baghdad today killed at least 19 people and injured more than 50.


At least 10 people died when two roadside bombs exploded in the Shurja marketplace.


Three other bombings earlier killed at least nine people elsewhere in the center.


The injured include civilians and police officers.


In a northern Baghdad district, gunmen stormed a bank and killed up to five people. Police sources say the robbers drove away with the equivalent of $4,000.


Meanwhile, the U.S. Army says one of its soldiers has died of wounds suffered on August 6 in fighting in the western province of Al-Anbar.


At least 15 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq so far in August, nine of them in Al-Anbar Province.
