Former Iranian President Arrives In U.S.


Ayatollah Mohammand Khatami (file photo) (epa) September 1, 2006 - Iran's official IRNA news agency reports that former President Mohammad Khatami has arrived in New York on a U.S. tour to promote dialogue between religions and cultures.


IRNA says members of Iran's United Nations delegation welcomed Khatami at the airport.


Khatami is due to deliver a speech at the Washington National Cathedral on September 7.


He will also travel to Chicago and attend a UN conference in New York.
