PRAGUE, September 4, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has expressed concern over recent cases of journalists in Azerbaijan being prosecuted.
In a letter sent to President Ilham Aliyev, the OSCE representative on freedom of the media, Miklos Haraszti, said that in all the cases the plaintiffs are public officials.
In March 2005 Aliyev appealed to public officials not to file lawsuits against the media.
