Khatami Condemns Bin Laden, Praises Hizballah


Ayatollah Mohammad Khatami pictured during his visit to the United States (epa) September 11, 2006 -- Former Iranian President  Mohammad Khatami has condemned Osama bin Laden and suicide bombings, but defended groups such as the Lebanese Hizballah militia for resisting Israel.


Khatami made the remarks on September 10 during a speech at Harvard University, the latest stop of his visit to the United States.


Khatami also praised the concept of democracy but said U.S. politicians have been infatuated with "world domination" since World War II.
