NATO Soldier Among Dead In Kandahar Attack


The aftermath of a suicide attack on international troops in Kandahar in June (epa) KANDAHAR, October 13, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- NATO officials in Afghanistan say a NATO soldier died from injuries he suffered when a suicide bomber attacked his convoy in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar today. The nationality of the soldier was not released.


Afghan police and doctors told RFE/RL that eight Afghan civilians were also killed by the attack.


Eyewitnesses say the attacker used a car filled with explosives. RFE/RL's correspondent in Kandahar reports seeing the twisted wreckage of a car near the blast scene.
