Iran Says It Has Uncovered Spy Network


Intelligence Minister Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejeie (file photo) (AFP) February 8, 2007 -- A senior Iranian official says his country has identified 100 spies working for the United States and Israel in border areas of Iran.


Fars News Agency quotes Intelligence Minister Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejeie as saying the alleged spies intended to gain access to military and political information.


The minister added that a number of Iranians who sought to take part in espionage training abroad have also been arrested.


He did not elaborate.
