Dejan Anastasijevic writes for the liberal Belgrade-based weekly "Vreme." Police say he and his family were asleep at the time of the attack and were not harmed.
Anastasijevic's home suffered some structural damage.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. Police say they are investigating.
Anastasijevic has covered organized crime and war crimes in his reporting. In 2002, he appeared as a prosecution witness at the UN war crimes trial of former President Slobodan Milosevic.
More recently, he criticized Serbia's War Crimes Court for its verdict in the case of five Serb commandoes who were filmed executing six Bosnian Muslims in 1995.
The court sentenced four of the defendants to up to 20 years in jail, but cleared the fifth, and Anastasijevic said the verdicts were too lenient.
Serbia's President Boris Tadic condemned the attack against Anastasijevic, vowing that the authorities would find and punish the perpetrators.
