OSCE Criticizes Armenia On Observers

May 7, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has voiced concern over Armenia's refusal to grant entry visas to eight election observers.

The observers, all of Turkish nationality, were due to arrive in Armenia today to monitor the country's parliamentary elections on May 12.

Armenia and Turkey are locked in a bitter dispute over Turkey's refusal to recognize as genocide the killings and deportations of Armenians in Ottoman Turkey in 1914-15.
