The university has been the site of frequent protests, like this one in December against a visit by President Mahmud Ahmadinejad (Fars) May 16, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists has condemned the recent arrests of four Iranian student editors of Amir Kabir University of Technology in Tehran.

The arrests earlier this month followed the publication of newsletters carrying articles deemed insulting to Islam.
