Kyrgyzstan Detains Two On Suspicion Of Espionage


(RFE/RL) June 21, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- Kyrgyzstan says it has detained one of its citizens and a foreign national on suspicion of espionage.


A statement by the Kyrgyz National Security Committee said the two were detained in Bishkek June 19 as they were exchanging classified materials.


It said the Kyrgyz citizen was a staffer from a government body.


It did not specify the nationality of the person who allegedly received the classified information.
