Five U.S. Soldiers Reported Killed In Iraq


(RFE/RL) August 12, 2007 -- The U.S. military announced today that five of its soldiers have been killed in the Iraqi capital.


Four soldiers were killed and four others wounded by an explosion during combat operations south of Baghdad on August 11.


A fifth soldier was killed the same day by small arms fire while on foot patrol southeast on Baghdad.


No other details were provided.


Reports say at least 30 U.S. soldiers have been killed so far in August.
