Five Killed In Southern Afghan Attacks


(RFE/RL) HELMAND PROVINCE, Afghanistan; August 19, 2007 (RFE/RL) --  A suicide bomber blew himself up next to members of a private security firm providing protection for a road-construction company, RFERL's Radio Free Afghanistan reported.


Four Afghan guards were killed in the attack on August 18, and three others were wounded.


Meanwhile, a NATO soldier was killed today while escorting a convoy in southern Afghanistan.


A statement from the alliance did not disclose the soldier's nationality or the exact location of the incident.
