Afghanistan's Independent Election Commission (IEC) says it will announce the final results of the September parliamentary elections on November 24.

Afghans voted in their second post-Taliban parliamentary poll on September 18, but the results have been withheld pending investigations into widespread fraud.

Election authorities have invalidated about 1.3 million of the 5.6 million votes cast and disqualified 19 candidates who were declared winners in preliminary results.

IEC spokesman Nur Ahmad Nur said the results would be announced at a news conference in Kabul on November 24.
