Pakistani police say a doctor was arrested on December 10 on charges of blasphemy after he allegedly threw away a business card of a man who shared the name of Islam's Prophet Muhammad.

The Muslim doctor, Naushad Valiyani, was detained in the southern city of Hyderabad after someone complained to the police.

The arrest comes a month after Asia Bibi, a Christian woman, was sentenced to death under the country's controversial blasphemy law, prompting international outcry.
