The 1995 Dayton peace accords brought to an end three years of war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, but cemented the country's divisions along ethnic lines. This map gives a snapshot of Bosnia's ethnic divisions before the war -- and three years after Dayton, using data gathered by the United Nations in 1998. Bosnia conducted its first postwar census in 2013, but final results are not available as disputes between the country’s regional statistics agencies still remain.
