Russia's Defense Ministry says more than 70 soldiers of a Russian special force unit are participating in annual joint exercises with the Pakistani military.
The two-week drills dubbed Friendship-2020 are being held at a training base for Pakistani special forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and will last until November 21, the ministry said on November 6.
The exercises are aimed at "sharing both armies experiences in counter terrorism domain," the Pakistani military’s media wing said in a tweet, adding that the drills will include skydiving and hostage rescue operations.
Russia and Pakistan have held the bilateral military exercises since 2016.
These are the third Friendship exercises to be held in Pakistan. Two others took place in Russia's Southern Military District and the North Caucasus region of Karachai-Cherkessia.
The drills involve more than 150 troops from the two countries.
