Incumbent President Mahmud Ahmadinejad and his conservative rival Mohsen Rezai mainly clashed over the economy in the sixth and final televised debate between Iran’s presidential candidates.
Rezai, the former commander of the Revolutionary Guards, accused Ahmadinejad of thinking too highly of himself.
“One of the main faults of Ahmadinejad is that he thinks he knows everything about every subject,” said Rezai.
He also said Ahmadinejad has destabilized Iran's economy by sacking a number of senior officials.
Ahmadinejad reacted by saying that the moves were done based on planning and that his actions were goal-oriented.
He also said that if reelected he will continue changing his managers, adding that this was done based on "a promise" to the people.
Ahmadinejad questioned Rezai’s ability to run the country.
Rezai reacted by pointing to his experience leading the Revolutionary Guards during the war with Iraq.
