A member of Iraq's Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has said recount of votes cast in Baghdad in March 7 election is likely to be concluded within two weeks.
In a statement on IHEC's website, commissioner Hamdia al-Hussaini said a committee has been formed to handle the manual recount, which should begin within a few days.
Baghdad accounts for 68 seats in the 325-seat parliament.
Incumbent Shi'ite Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's bloc had been seeking a manual recount after coming a close second in the election.
Results of the elections showed former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi's Al-Iraqiyah list winning 91 seats in the 325-member parliament, followed by Maliki's coalition with 89 seats.
