A popular news website in Kazakhstan came under cyberattack on February 13 and was unavailable for two days, RFE/RL's Kazakh Service reports.
The editor and owner of the zonakz.net website, Yuriy Mizinov, told RFE/RL that he has no doubt that a premeditated cyberattack brought down the site, but he did speculate on why someone chose to attack it.
Zonakz.net has faced pressure in the past, though from Kazakh authorities rather than anonymous attackers.
The website has been forced to change its name several times in recent years, and it relocated its server to another country after Almaty authorities shut it down.
