North Korea has denied that it sank a South Korean naval vessel near their disputed sea border late last month.

The North's KCNA news agency accused the government in Seoul of using the media to create speculation that the ship could have hit a North Korean torpedo, causing it to sink and kill 46 South Korean sailors.

The statement comes as the South Korean government has said in its official statements that it is still investigating the cause of the sinking.
