Officials in Warsaw have removed a cross from the front of the presidential palace honoring late Polish leader Lech Kaczynski, who died in a plane crash in Russia in April.

The cross was moved to a chapel inside the palace, and will later be permanently installed in a nearby church.

The move has angered many Kaczynski supporters, who have come to see the cross as a symbol of deep political divisions in Poland.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who frequently clashed with Kaczynski, said the move was a "good decision."

The cross was erected shortly after the April 10 crash that killed Kaczynski and 95 other people, including a number of top government officials.
