Swedish police have issued an international arrest warrant for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who is wanted on suspicion of rape and sexual molestation.

The warrant was issued after a Swedish court approved a request by prosecutors to detain Assange for questioning.

Assange has denied the accusations, which stem from reported encounters with two women during a visit to Sweden in August.

An Australian national, Assange has called the allegations part of a smear campaign.

Assange's website has released hundreds of thousands of classified U.S. files on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, in the biggest security breach of its kind in U.S. military history.
