WATCH: Taliban Militants Attack Polish Base In Eastern Afghanistan

Seven people were reported killed and dozens more wounded in an attack claimed by the Taliban on a military base in eastern Afghanistan on August 28.

Taliban militants set off car bombs at two ends of the base in Ghazni Province before trying to storm the facility, triggering a six-hour gun battle with Afghan and Polish forces inside.

Ghazni Province's deputy governor said four policemen and three civilians were killed and 10 Polish soldiers and 52 Afghan security force members and civilians wounded.

It was unclear how many militants had been killed.

Elsewhere in Afghanistan on August 28, two attacks in Helmand Province killed three soldiers, 10 Afghan civilians and wounded more than 20 others.

Meanwhile, in western Farah Province, a suspected Taliban rocket attack targeted 40 NATO fuel trucks, killing at least four drivers.
