'Our Futures Will Be Ruined': Afghan Girls Fear Denial Of Education Under Taliban

Since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan, the militants have made vague statements about allowing girls to get an education, but the reality so far is that female secondary-school students have stayed home. When the Taliban ruled from 1996 to 2001, it made similar ambiguous promises, but the end result was that women were barred from education, most work, and public life in general. During a call-in show with RFE/RL's Radio Azadi, women and girls talked about their schooling being cut short, along with their fears for the future.
