Afghan President Hamid Karzai has called on the U.S. military to avoid operations that kill Afghan civilians, saying this was his "last warning" to Washington, his office said in a statement.

Reacting to the alleged deaths of 10 children, two women, and two men in a U.S.-led air strike on May 28 in the southern province of Helmand, Karzai said that such incidents were "murdering Afghanistan's children and women."

Provincial government spokesman Dawood Ahmadi said six people were wounded in the raid, which took place in Helmand Province's Nawzad district.

NATO spokesman Major Tim James said the alliance was inspecting the site.
