Barroso Visiting Georgia To 'Underline EU Support'

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso is expected to arrive to Tbilisi on June 12 for his first official visit to Georgia.

In Georgia, he is scheduled to hold talks with Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

Barroso began a four-day regional trip in Moldova on June 11. He concludes with a visit to Azerbaijan.

Barroso's office said on June 11 that his visits to Moldova and Georgia will "underline EU support" for these countries ahead of the signature of Association Agreements and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) pacts with them on June 27.

Barroso will also address an EU investment conference in Tbilisi.
