The leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has approved plans to build the Russian republic's tallest building in a new district in its capital.
Russian architects, commissioned by Kadyrov, presented the plan for the district, called Grozny City 2, on August 22.
The future complex will include an 80-story, 400-meter building "in the style of a medieval Chechen tower."
It will be named Tower Akhmed, in memory of Kadyrov’s father, who was assassinated by Chechen rebels in 2004.
The tower will contain an Akhmat Kadyrov museum, a hotel, restaurants, offices, fitness centers, swimming pools, and 100 exclusive apartments.
Construction is expected to take three years.
The current tallest building in Grozny is 145 meters high.
