U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was due to hold her second meeting with members of Syria's opposition today.

The meeting with seven members of Syria's opposition was to take place in Geneva, where Clinton was due to give a speech on human rights.

The UN says more than 4,000 people have been killed in Syria since protests against President Bashar al-Assad broke out in March.

The violence continued on December 5, when the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said pro-Assad militia had kidnapped and killed at least 34 people from anti-Assad districts.

The bloodshed came as Syria said it intended to "soon" sign an Arab League plan to end the violence.
