A nephew of the controversial former mayor of Kyrgyzstan's second largest city, Osh, has been killed by unknown attackers.
Melis Myrzakmatov's nephew, Jenish Sadiev, died in hospital on May 1, one day after unknown attackers shot him while he was at home in Osh.
Police say investigators are considering different leads and motives for the attack.
Sadiev, 39, had a criminal record and was involved in the automobile import business.
Myrzakmatov has said that the attack against his nephew was done in an effort to frighten him. He did not elaborate.
Myrzakmatov was the only top official with ties to ousted President Kurmanbek Bakiev who had managed to remain in his post. He was sacked in December in a decree issued by Prime Minister Jantoro Satybaldiev.
He failed to regain his post in a January mayoral election.
