The European Commission today adopted an interim report on Croatia's progress toward EU accession, arguing that the country needs to make further reforms to its judiciary and anticorruption efforts.
The report also highlights problems concerning the protection of minorities and the rights of returning refugees.
Croatia has closed 28 out of 35 chapters in its accession negotiations with the European Union.
Chapter 23, dealing with judiciary reforms and fundamental rights, was opened last year and will only be closed when Zagreb meets the reform conditions set out by the bloc.
