Former Libya Rebel Groups Clash In Tripoli


Two former Libyan rebel factions have clashed in central Tripoli, reportedly leaving five fighters dead.

Former rebels from Tripoli and a separate group of fighters from the city of Misurata fought with machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades and antiaircraft guns.

Colonel Walid Shouaib, a member of the Tripoli Military Council, said the clashes on January 3 were triggered by the arrest of a Misurata fighter on New Year's Eve by Tripoli combatants.

He was suspected of robbery and the Misurata fighters were trying to free him. D
