TBILISI – The leader of Georgia's opposition Georgian Dream coalition, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, has harshly criticized a five-hour questioning of his brother’s U.S. partner at Tbilisi airport on June 14.

Ivanishvili said the questioning of Alexander Ronzhes is an indication that Georgia’s current leadership is in "agony," adding that Tbilisi would have to explain its “insult” to U.S. authorities.

Alexander Ronzhes, a U.S citizen, is a co-owner of the Global TV cable network provider in Georgia in which Ivanishvili's brother owns the bulk of the shares.

Ronzhes was stopped at Tbilisi airport as he was leaving the country.

Officials said Ronzhes was questioned as a witness in an ongoing money-laundering probe.

The officials did not say who was targeted by the probe.
