Afghan officials say a suicide car bomber has driven his vehicle into a convoy of foreign troops in southern Afghanistan, killing four Afghan civilians and injuring 15 other bystanders.

The attack on NATO-led forces on August 28 was on a main road near police headquarters in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand Province.

An Afghan police official said there were casualties among the foreign troops. But a spokeswoman for the NATO-led forces in Afghanistan was unable to confirm that report.

Meanwhile, in the neighboring province of Farah, Afghan officials say four drivers were killed and 40 trucks set ablaze when a rocket was fired into a parking lot.

A spokesman for the provincial governor blamed that attack on Taliban militants.

Based on reporting by Reuters, AP, and AFP
