The head of the Lebanese Shi’ite militant group Hizballah has blamed Saudi Arabia for the bombing attack on the Iranian Embassy in Beirut.

The November 19 double-suicide bombing killed around 25 people.

The Al-Qaeda-linked Abdullah Azzam Brigades claimed responsibility, saying the attack was in response to Iran’s and Hizballah’s backing of the Syrian government in the Syrian war.

Hizballah chief Hassan Nasrallah, speaking on Lebanese television December 3, said he believed the group had connections to Saudi intelligence agents.

He said the attack on the embassy, which is located in Hizballah's southern Beirut bastion, was "linked to Saudi Arabia's rage against Iran” over Saudi Arabia’s “failure” in Syria.

Sunni-led Saudi Arabia has been a leading international backer of the rebels fighting to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
