Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi has said on state TV that his country has successfully test-fired an upgraded version of the Fateh-110 short-range ballistic missile.

The defense minister called the missile a "deterrent," adding "it will only be used against those who have bad intentions toward" Iran.

Vahidi did not say when the missile was test-fired.
