A message issued on the Facebook page of Iran's foreign minister condemns the massacre of Jews by Nazi Germany during World War II.

The post on the page of Mohammad Javad Zarif also condemns "the massacre of Palestinians by the Zionists."

Condemnation of the Holocaust by a senior Iranian official would mark a shift from the Holocaust denials of Iran's previous president, Mahmud Ahmadinejad. Although several Iranian officials have a presence on Facebook and Twitter, most accounts are thought to be maintained by supporters.

Zarif is the only Iranian official to acknowledge his personal participation on social-media websites. On September 5, a message on Zarif's Twitter account wished Jews "Happy Rosh Hashanah," the Jewish New Year.
