U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has called on Iran to come up with "a set of proposals" to convince the international community that its nuclear program is peaceful.

Kerry spoke on October 7 on the sidelines of an Asian economic summit in Bali. He said Tehran has not responded fully to a February proposal by the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany for negotiating with Iran over its nuclear program.

President Hassan Rohani's election in June has raised hopes for a solution to the decade-old dispute over Iran's nuclear program. Rohani has made some conciliatory gestures to Washington, including a new push for nuclear negotiations.

Tehran insists that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, and has repeatedly rejected Western accusations of building nuclear weapons.
