An Iranian soldier accused of opening fire on fellow troops at a military base in the southeastern Kerman Province on January 21, killing five of them, has been arrested. Base commander Amir Gholamalian said on January 22 that the unidentified soldier was arrested in Zarand, a small city northwest of Kerman, where the shooting took place. Kerman Province police said that two assault rifles and ammunition were confiscated during the arrest.
